This gives them time to take your question and forward it to the manufacturer for an answer.
Another trick many online sellers try to pull is to refer you to a web-based forum for support - usually to forums they don't own or monitor for your questions. Many are likely to refer you to the forum at the manufacturer's website NECDSX.com which is operated by NEC for its installers, or "sundance" which is also for professional installers.
Always ask a reseller ... "If I need to speak to a live technician, may I?"

Most internet resellers
do not stock spares if you need a replacement part.
When we send your equipment to NEC for repair, it can take as long as 8 weeks - sometimes longer - before NEC returns it to us to give to you.
Good online resellers keep spares on hand and can swap out your parts while you're waiting for repair which is good because it can take 2 to 8 weeks to get parts back from NEC repair.

Asking "can you remotely program my system?" is a good gauge of whether or not the reseller is capable of helping you - if you need help - after the sale.
